THE EDTF IN COLLABORATION WITH TTRCB AND IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BRITISH COUNCIL IN TRAINING TEACHERS IN BAYELSA STATE
The Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) in Collaboration with the Teachers Training Registration and Certification Board (TTRCB) and in Partnership with British Council, has organized a Five (5) day capacity development programme for teachers and school leaders in the State. It is aimed at Strengthening Teachers English Proficiency, Stimulating teachers Resourcefulness in Digital Education and School Leadership Capacity building programme to enhance teachers professional skills and quality in Bayelsa education sector.
Speaking during the opening ceremony at the main Auditorium, St. Jude’s Girls Secondary School, Amarata, in Yenagoa, the Executive Secretary of EDTF, Professor, Ebimieowei Etebu, explained that, the mandate of EDTF is to ensure the strengthening of education delivery in the State noting that, the training programme is designed to equipping teachers with modern digital tools to produce effective learning outcomes in the classroom.
He expressed his appreciation and lauded Governor Douye Diri for his passion and dedication towards prioritizing the provision of quality education in the State.
The Executive Secretary urged the benefiting teachers to take advantage of the training to acquire the needed knowledge, values and morals to impart on our children to produce positive outcomes in the society.
Declaring the training open, the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, expressed delight and lauded the EDTF and British Council for their critical intervention in the Educational sector of the State.
According him, the continuous training of teachers will produce significant impacts on the educational sector noting that, Government will not relent in its efforts to support capacity development programmes for teachers across the State while, expressed confidence that, Bayelsa State will soon be pronounced the leading State in education delivery in Nigeria.
He urged the benefiting teachers to take the training programme seriously to improve their communication skills to produce positive learning outcomes in the classroom and the society.
In their separate goodwill remarks, the House Committee Chairman on Education, BYHA, Dr. Charles Daniel, the Executive Chairman TTRCB, Dr. (Mrs.) Stella Peremoboere Ugolo and the Permanent Secretary, Post Primary Schools Board (PPSB) Mr. Faith Ogbara, expressed delight and commended the EDTF for their bold initiatives and support towards improving the professional development of teachers in the State noting that, the programme is another important pilot initiative to strengthen the education sector while, urging the beneficiaries to approach the training with all seriousness to acquire the needed knowledge to make meaningful impacts in the educational sector of the State.
Earlier, the Director, English and School Education, British Council, Fwanshishak Daniel, lauded the State Government and EDTF for their vision and conductive partnership ties with the British Council while, describing the training programme as a critical step towards improving teachers Resourcefulness and competence noting that, the collaboration has produced significant innovations as well as positive impacts beyond the State.
