THE PUBLICITY AND SENSITIZATION COMMITTEE OF THE EDTF FAMILIARIZATION VISIT TO MEDIA OUTFITS IN YENAGOA, BAYELSA STATE
The Publicity and Sensitization Committee of the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) Board has again, taken its familiarisation visit to Media Houses in Yenagoa as part of the Committee efforts to publicize the activities and programmes of the Trust Fund.
The Media Outfits visited include, Rhythm 94.7 Fm, Peoples 93.1 Fm, Nta Yenagoa, Glory 97.1 Fm, the New Waves, GLTV, Yenagoa, Golden Fm, 97.5 and the Federated Correspondent Chapel.
Speaking during the media tour in Yenagoa, the Chairman, EDTF Board and the Publicity and Sensitization Committee, High Chief, Fidelis Agbiki, expressed appreciation and commended the media houses for their consistent support and the pivotal roles in publicizing the activities of the Trust Fund for the past (8) eight years. High Chief Agbiki explained that, the visit was aimed at introducing the leadership of the newly constituted Third EDTF Board as well as to solicit for support and cement more stronger partnership between the media organizations and the Board in advancing education through the effective Publicity of its activities. He used the opportunity to highlight some EDTF interventions in the education sector to include, feeding of over 5000 Student in the Model Boarding Secondary Schools spread across the Eight LGAs in the State, critical educational programmes, Water facilities, Sickbay, Science Laboratory, Research grants for Tertiary Institution’s, ICT services, Coding and Robotics, Technical/ Vocational training, training of teachers, among others.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary EDTF, Professor Ebimieowei Etebu said, the core mandate of the Trust Fund is to intervene in critical areas of education in the State. Professor Etebu noted that, media organizations are critical partners in progress stating that, effective media collaboration is essential in publicizing the EDTF programmes adding that, it will also promote youths development through education. He expressed optimism that, the renewed partnership will deliver greater impacts in the educational sector of the State.
In their separate responses, the General Manager of the various media houses, Mr. Oyins Egrenbidor, BM, Rhythm 94.7, Mr. Terence Ekiseh, GM Glory Fm 97.1 Mrs. Ruth Gwegwe, GM New Waves, among others appreciated the EDTF for the renewed collaboration and assured their willingness to partner and support in information dissemination that will positivity impact on the educational growth and development in Bayelsa State.
