EXECUTIVE SECRETARY EDTF RECEIVES PARTICIPANTS OF THE RECENT NATIONAL ROBOTICS COMPETITION IN IBADAN, OYO STATE
The Executive Secretary, Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF), Professor Ebimieowei Etebu has received the Students, Tutors and Principal of Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Yenagoa, who clinched Third position at the recent National Robotics Competition with the project, Flood Detective and Emergency Response at Ibadan, Oyo State. Speaking during the reception ceremony in his office, the Fund’s Secretariat in Yenagoa, Professor Ebimieowei Etebu, expressed appreciation and commended the participants for their resilience in the competition for not only making Bayelsa State proud but, have justified the funds invested on the Coding and Robotics Programme adding that, it has produced positive impacts in the educational sector of the State. According to him, the brilliant performance of the students on the peculiar project in the competition will significantly enhance the development of Science and Technical education in the State stating that, it will also provide children the enabling environment to apply their scientific knowledge to solve problems in the society. The Executive Secretary applauded the participants for the honour done the State particularly, the positive impact created in the educational sector. He assured the EDTF willingness to support the programme in future competitions to make Bayelsa educational system more bright.
In her response, the Principal, Bishop Dimieari Grammar School (BDGS), Mrs. Beauty Asamaowei expressed appreciation and lauded the State Government and EDTF for the numerous interventions in the School and the passionate support for the programme stating that, it has positively impact on the standard of education in Bayelsa State.
In their separate speech, the Two Scientist, Mr. Karis Gabriel, Mr. Fetonghan Wilberforce, all in SS2 and Mr. Annold Ayibadieye, ICT Tutor, thanked the State Government and EDTF for the huge support in the sector as well as providing them the opportunity to excel in the national Robotics Competition.
At the end of the competition, Bishop Dimieari Grammar School (BDGS), Yenagoa, Bayelsa State emerge Third position with a cash prize of (N350,000.00) Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand naira.
While, Shelum Science and Technical College, Enugu emerged overall winner and Kings College, Lagos, clinched the Second position.
The National Robotics competition was held at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
