EDTF HANDOVER BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES LABORATORY EQUIPMENT TO NIGER DELTA UNIVERSITY (NDU) AMASSOMA
In pursuance of scientific innovations and academic excellence, the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) has handover sets of Biological Science Laboratory Equipment to the Niger Delta University (NDU) Amassoma, to support the University towards processing the accreditation needs for the BSC Microbiology programme.
It is part of government efforts to ensure the advancement of scientific development in the institutions to enable students acquire the needed skills to compete favorably with their counterparts in the world. The equipments donated include, 36 Microscope, 4 Incubators, 4 Autoclaves, 2 Deep Freezer, 2 Refrigerator, 2 Water Bath, Hot Plate/Magnetic stirrer and Water distiller.
In his remarks, during the handover ceremony at the Microbiology Department Science Laboratory, Niger Delta University (NDU) Amassoma, the Chairman, EDTF, High Chief Fidelis Agbiki, explained that, the provision of the equipments is part of the EDTF unwavering commitment to enhance the quality of education in the State. He expressed satisfaction for the procurement of the equipment and assured the Board readiness to support the development of educational institutions to promote scientific research and better learning outcomes.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Niger Delta University (NDU), Professor Allen Agih, commended the State Government, Ministry of Education and the EDTF for the immense support. He said the Institution is prepared to provide students world-class education, stating that the laboratory equipment will significantly enhance and contribute to the development of scientific knowledge in the State. Professor Agih assured the EDTF, the University willingness to ensure judicious use of the equipment.
Also speaking, the Head of Department, Microbiology, Dr. Ebisumo Ageda, expressed appreciation for the provision of the equipments adding that, it will enable the Department complete the accreditation processes stating that, the gesture of EDTF was very significant in the history of the University.
The high point of the handover ceremony was the presentation of Plaque by the V.C Prof. Allen Agih to the EDTF, it was received by the Chairman EDTF, High Chief Fidelis Agbiki, in appreciation of the support given them.
