HON. COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION RECEIVES MEMBERS OF THE THIRD EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT TRUST FUND BOARD.

The Honourable Commissioner of Education has received Members of the newly inaugurated 3rd Board of the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Yenagoa, on the 21st of October, 2025. The aim of the visit were to introduce the membership of the new Board as well as to further seek the harmonious working relationship existed between them overtime being the supervising Ministry.

In his remark, the Board Chairman, High Chief Fidelis Agbiki, expressed appreciation and commended the Commissioner of Education and his team for providing their support and guidance, which has earned the previous Board remarkable success stating that the same gesture should be given to the New Board. He explained that, the EDTF as an interventionist agency would ensure to intervene in critical educational programmes to support the provision of quality education in the State. The Board Chairman used the opportunity to appeal to the Honourable Commissioner to timely intervene on the feeding situation in the Model Secondary Schools to ensure better learning environment for the pupils. He assured the Board preparedness to work in synergy to ensure that, the legacies of the EDTF would be sustained to attract more positive results in the education sector.

In his response, the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, expressed delight and appreciated the EDTF Board Members for their timely visit as well as acknowledged the quality of individuals appointed into the Board from its inception. The education Commissioner admonish the membership of the Board to ensure team work to implement effective policies and programmes that would significantly impact on the growth of education in the State. Dr. Emelah also commended Governor Douye Diri for his commitment towards revamping the educational sector through the intervention in many critical projects and programmes across the Model Secondary Schools in the State. The Education Commissioner assured the ministry’s preparedness to support the EDTF to achieve its set objectives to impact on the educational sector of the State.
