EDTF INAUGURATE SICKBAY
The Bayelsa Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) has inaugurated a modern sickbay with standard facilities at the Captain Owonaro Ijaw National Academy (INA) Kaiama, in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the State.
In her remarks during the inauguration ceremony, the Executive Secretary, (EDTF) Dr. (Mrs.) Alice Atuwo said, the project was very significant as part of the EDTF support towards revamping the Educational sector. According to her, the EDTF places high priority in education related programmes in the State noting that, the inauguration of the project would add value as well as provide better teaching and learning environment in the school for the good of our children. Dr Alice Atuwo admonished the management of the school to make efficient use of the sickbay to serve the purpose while urging parents to compliment the efforts of government towards ensuring the safety of their children noting that, health was wealth.
In his remarks, the Acting Chairman (EDTF), Professor Francis Sikoki expressed delight for the c of commissioning of the project as part of EDTF intervention that will enable student’s enjoy standard health facilities in the school. He explained that, since health was the most valuable and greatest asset of human, the EDTF saw the desired need to establish the health centre to solve some health related challenges in the school. Professor Francis Sikoki therefore, urged the management of the school to make EDTF proud towards ensuring the maintenance of the sickbay with the aim to serve the purpose it was set up. He also commended the Kaiama Community for their support and activeness for ensuring the safety and protection against vandalism of the facilities as well as amenities in the academy.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, who was represented by Dr. (Mrs.) Biboye Ogola, DG, Education Policies and Services, expressed satisfaction and commended the EDTF for their benevolence in establishing the project. According to the Commissioner, the project we will not only solve health related challenges but, it will greatly impact on me academic performance of the students as well as the status of teachers.
Also speaking, the representative of Kaiama Community, the CDC Chairman, Barr. Perezi Dimie, expressed gratitude and applauded Governor, Douye Diri and former Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson for their passionate vision for establishing and sustaining the Ijaw National Academy (INA) with the aim to provide quality education for the people. He also thanked the EDTF for their immense support towards the development of education in the State while, assuring the Community commitment to ensure the safeguard of the facilities as well as to provide solar lights to support the security of the Academy.
In contributing, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Simon Peter Okene, also applauded the EDTF for their steadfastness and wonderful works towards advancing the Educational sector in Bayelsa State. He appreciated the management of the school as well as the students for their dexterity and urged them to guide the facilities zealously, seeing it as standard ground for learning to better themselves in society.
Also, the Chairman TTRCB, Dr. (Mrs.) Peremoboere Stella Ugolo, expressed appreciation to the EDTF for their good works while describing them as pillars of hope for their immense support towards improving the Educational sector in the State. She explained that, the sickbay was a test of time project stating that, it will greatly solve some sanitary and health related hazards as well as improve the teaching and learning standard of the school.
On behalf of the students, Ewo Gloria, expressed gratitude and commended the Bayelsa State Government and EDTF for their benevolence and great gesture for providing them better environment for learning while, assuring their willingness to make the State proud
