EDTF DISTRIBUTES KITCHEN UTENSILS AND RELATED ITEMS TO THE ELEVEN (11) MODEL SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN BAYELSA STATE.
The Bayelsa State Education Trust Fund has distributed Kitchen Utensils to the Eleven (11) Model Secondary schools as part of efforts to improve the smooth operation of the Boarding system in the State. Speaking during the distribution processes at St. Judes Girls Model Secondary School, Amarata, in Yenagoa, the Executive Secretary of the EDTF, Dr. (Mrs.) Alice Atuwo said, the utensils were purchased mainly for kitchen use to meet the challenge of food supply in serving the increasing population of students in the schools.
Dr. Atuwo noted that, the decision to purchase the items was to cover the deficiency of kitchen utensils reported by the EDTF Monitoring Team during the monitoring visit to the schools. She further explained that, the newly purchased kitchen utensils were mainly to replace items procured in 2020, that were depleted. The Executive Secretary admonished the benefiting schools, particularly the principal’s, to make effective use of the items as well as to ensure they are not destroyed to enable them to serve for a longer time.
Responding on behalf of the benefiting schools, the Principal, Bayelsa State Sports Academy, Mr. Okpako Dickson, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the EDTF for the intervention noting that, it has solve the problem of insufficient kitchen utensils in the schools. Mr. Dickson assured the Principal’s readiness to apply every strategy to ensure the items were secured and diligently put to good use.
Commenting on the performance of EDTF, he rated the Fund very high for their outstanding support in the Educational sector, particularly in the Model Secondary Schools, the feeding of schoolchildren, the provision of kitchen utensils, and ICT, among other things. He also used the opportunity to commend Governor Douye Diri led administration for sustaining the EDTF which has supported quality Education in Bayelsa State.
Items provided include, deep freezers, generators, grinding machines, wheelbarrows, scale weighing machines, coolers, gas cookers, pots among others.
