EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, BAYELSA STATE EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT TRUST FUND (EDTF) RECEIVES INTEGRITY AND TRANSPARENCY LEADERSHIP AWARD.

EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, BAYELSA STATE EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT TRUST FUND (EDTF) RECEIVES INTEGRITY AND TRANSPARENCY LEADERSHIP AWARD.

Dr. (Mrs.) Alice Atuwo, the Executive Secretary of Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) has received the Thomas Sankara Pan African Leadership Prize for Integrity and Transparency Award.

The President, Youth Partnership for African Development (YOUPAD), KIcurio District, Kanombe Sector, Kigali Rwanda, Ambassador Nwankwo Henry Nkem presented the award to Dr. (Mrs.) Alice A. Atuwo at the Trust Fund Secretariat, Education House in Yenagoa. Ambassador Nkem described Dr. Alice Atuwo as a public servant with zero tolerance to corruption and high administrative prudence. According to him, Dr. Atuwo is an embodiment of team play with an exemplary lifestyle that promotes the African values characterized by hard work, integrity and transparency.

The YOUPAD President, Ambassador Nkem further stated that, the objective of the African Youth Organization was to build Youths with leadership and entrepreneurship traits with the view to equipping them towards achieving their collective dreams through an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa.

He used the opportunity to highlight some of the activities carried out by the organization to include, the campaign against drug addiction and other related substances abuse, mass immigration, African for Africa, Youth re-orientation and Pan-African business incubation among others.

In her response, the Executive Secretary EDTF Dr. (Mrs.) Alice Atuwo, expressed excitement and dedicated the award to the Almighty God saying, she was overwhelmed with the organizations gesture, identifying her worthy of the award. The EDTF Executive Secretary promised not to be carried away by the award but, will continue to discharge her duties diligently to the best of her abilities. She also appreciated the Youth Organization for honouring the EDTF with the corporate award of transparency and team work.

Dr Atuwo decried the increasing rate of drug addiction among the youth, appealing to them to shun the act and embrace education to acquire the needed skills to harness the wealth of the environment to better themselves and the larger society. She also called on parents and community leaders to join the campaign against the eradication of drugs in the society, adding that, they should ensure the provision of better education to their children and wards to enable them achieve the desired heights in society as leaders of future generation.

Also present at the award ceremony includes, Mr Austine Kaussi, Vice President, West Africa, Paul Kwabena, Rwanda, Secretary General and Daniel Donald, Nigeria Co-ordinator as well as staff of the Trust Fund.
