EXECUTIVE SECRETARY EDTF RECEIVES ROTARY AWARD

The Executive Secretary, of the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund, Dr. (Mrs.) Alice Atuwo has received an award of appreciation from the Rotary International District 9141 for creating the enabling environment for Rotary to Partner with the Trust Fund (Board).

 

District Governor of Rotary, Emeke Utebor who performed the award ceremony during a courtesy visit on the Executive Secretary at the Fund Secretariat, Education House, as part of plans to inaugurate a Rotary/EDTF Joint water project at Community Secondary School, Okutukutu, expressed gratitude to the EDTF for opening her door to Rotary International to meet the needs of the school children.

 

According to the Rotary International District Governor, the vision of Rotary was to provide succor to the people through the establishment of sustainable projects in Communities and provision of educational facilities in school with the view to giving them hope.

 

He explained that, the mission of Rotary was to create an enabling environment for the people as well as making the world a better place for mankind.

 

During the commissioning ceremony, the District Governor, Utebor said the aim of the water project was to make education accessible to the people.

 

He urged the students to make good use of the facility and guide it jealously noting that, it will prevent them from water borne diseases as well as to keep their hygiene intact.

 

The District Governor further states that, Rotary is preparing to roll out its 2023 grants while requesting the EDTF to collaborate with them to identify projects that would be beneficial to the people.

 

He therefore commended the EDTF and Rotary for making the effort in putting up a District Grants to support the project.

 

In her response, the Executive Secretary, EDTF, Dr. (Mrs.) Alice Atuwo expressed delight and appreciation to Rotary International for honouring her.

 

Dr. Atuwo further stated that, the EDTF is purely an interventionist Agency seeking partnership with development partner with the view to solving the educational problems of the State, noting that government alone cannot solve all the educational needs of the State.

 

She therefore applauded the Rotary International for their partnership with the EDTF in sponsoring the establishment of a water project at community secondary school, Okutukutu, which according to her, will solve some health and sanitary issues as well as any water, sanitation and hygiene challenge in the school.
