EDTF INAUGURATES BAYELSA SUYA DOMESTICATION ENCLOSURE

The Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) has inaugurated the Bayelsa Suya Domestication Enclosure as part of the ongoing research project to ensure the production of the Larvae in larger quantity for consumption and industrial use.

The Acting Chairman of the EDFT, Professor Francis Sikoki while performing the inauguration ceremony at the University of Africa, Toru-Orua (UAT) in Sagbama Local Government Area of the State, expressed satisfaction over the progression of the research programme noting that the project will be beneficial to the economy and the people of Bayelsa State, over time.

In her remarks, the Executive Secretary, EDTF Dr. (Mrs) Alice Atuwo, expressed gratitude to the researchers for their painstaking efforts aimed at ensuring the domestication and commercialization of Bayelsa Suya project.

She also commended the UAT, for the procurement of high standard research Lab facilities saying that, it has justified the resources provided for the project.

Dr. Atuwo emphasized that, the Bayelsa Suya research programme should be vigorously pursued due to its economic value noting that, it will launch Bayelsa State into faster lane in Biotechnology as well as in the scheme of things in the committee of States.

The Executive Secretary therefore, urged the researchers to make best use of the opportunity and assured of the EDTFs preparedness to support the research programme to fruition.

Earlier, the Lead researcher of the projects, Prof.  Mansi El-Mansi commended the EDTF for the bold initiative towards the sponsoring of the Bayelsa Suya domestication project.

He described the project as a treasure noting that, it will attract massive improvement in the lives of the people of the State.

According to Prof.  El-Mansi, the Bayelsa Suya has the potential of producing enzymes for the production of Beer and Wines in industries.

He further highlighted other of benefits to include, combustion of industrial and Agricultural waste, Low Biotic, Anti-Biotic, as well as the refreshment of the human body.

Prof.  El-Mansi assured of his teams preparedness to pursue the project to fruitful conclusion to attain world recognition
