EXECUTIVE SECRETARY (EDTF) RECIEVES DISTRICT GOVERNOR ROTARY INTERNATIONAL

The Executive Secretary of the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF), Dr. Alice Atuwo, has again re-affirmed the Board commitment to collaborate and partner with Rotary International towards the provision of sustainable projects that would contribute to the development of education in the State.

Dr. Alice Atuwo made the remark while receiving the District Governor Rotary International, District 9141, who paid her a familiarization visit, in the Fund’s Secretariat, in Yenagoa

According to her, the District Governor visit was to further cement the already existing partnership to actualize the set goals and objectives of the Board

Dr. Atuwo expressed appreciation for the partnership and assured the Board’s preparedness to collaborate with them to bring to bear the laudable programmes and projects that would have direct bearing on the people particularly in the educational sector.

Responding, the District Governor Rotary International, district 9141, Chief Mightyman Aye Dikuro lauded the efforts of the EDTF and for accepting collaboration and partnership with them.

According to him, the visit was among other reasons to fasten the bond of collaboration and partnership with the Board with the aim of funding projects and programmes that would positively impact the lives of the people of the State.

He explained that, the focal areas the EDTF and Rotary International can partner includes, Basic Education and Literacy, WASH programmes and granting of Scholarship.

Others are, Foreign Youth Exchange Programme, for students under the age bracket of 13 years, at the category of JSS2 to SS1, the Partnering Initiative in Niger Delta, an NGO helping Development partners working with PIND and the ROTA (Reach Out To Africa) Foundation.

He therefore, urged the Board to be more proactive to charge the Government towards bringing Development Partners to provide sustainable development in Bayelsa State.

Contributing, the Chairman Sub-Committee on Development Partners, Hon. Nyananyo Tubo, expressed gratitude for their visit and assured of the Board’s commitment to push the partnership with Rotary International to some positive heights.

Also, the consultant to the EDTF, Mr. Slaboh Philip appreciated Rotary for the projects Rotary has carried out in Bayelsa State especially in the educational sector.

He expressed optimism that, the collaboration and partnership being sought would yield desired results in education related matters and in capacity building to raise the standard of education in the State.
