BAYELSA EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT TRUST FUND (EDTF) HOSTS ROTARY INTERNATIONAL

The Executive Secretary of the Bayelsa state education Development Trust Fund (EDTF), Dr. Alice Atuwo has described the Rotary International as a critical development partner worthy of the Fund’s collaboration.

Dr. Atuwo Stated this when the Rotary International Club of District 9141 visited the EDTF Sub-Committee on Development Partners at the Fund Secretariat in the Education House, Yenagoa.

The Executive Secretary noted that the EDTF and Rotary International has a meeting point as they both provide services to humanity.

She lauded them for their numerous interventions in the state especially in the area of education while congratulating the Club for the successful installation of its Governor from the State.

Earlier, Chairman of the EDTF Sub-Committee on Development Partners, Chief NyananyoTubo commended the Rotary District 9141 for the lofty projects it has attracted to the State over the years.

Chief Tubo said the decision to engage the Club was to seek partnership that could attract more developmental projects to schools in the State from their network of partners as an international organization.

In his remarks, Chairman of Education committee of Rotary International, District 9141, ChiefKuneIgoni said the Club was pleased to interface with the EDTF for mutual benefits.

Chief Igoni further stated that the District was fortunate to have AlaboMightymanDikuro from Bayelsa State as the Governor stressing that with his knack for development especially in the area of education, greater fruits abound.

Also speaking, Past Assistant Governor of Rotary, Mr. Anthony Olikagu lauded the EDTF for the proposed partnership noting that it was in line with the Club’s mandate and drive.

Mr. Olikagu further noted that the Club had attracted several international projects to the State such as provision of desks to schools, health and WASH programmes and assured that with the relevant framework, the District will support EDTF in reaching out to communities in the hinterlands.

He added that their visit was for Needs assessment while assuring that the District would harness resources at its disposal to address some of the challenges highlighted by the EDTF.

President of the Yenagoa Club of Rotary International, Mr. Achugwo Nathaniel and his Brass Island counterpart, Mr. TarinyoAkono pledged their preparedness to work with the EDTF while informing that the Club would leverage on the two million dollar it has attracted to Nigeria to combat malaria to provide mosquito nets for students in the Boarding Schools.
