TRAINING OF TEACHERS

The Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) views capacity building as a critical component in its quest to scale up the standard of education in the state.

To this end, the Fund has supported the State Teachers Training, Registration and Certification Board (TTRCB) in building the capacity of primary and secondary school teachers in batches.

The beneficiaries who are drawn from the various schools and camped at the University of Africa, Toru-Orua for a period of one month are exposed to intensive programs put together by resource persons drawn from different Universities across the country.

Other civil servants with relevant teaching certificates who were drafted to schools under government’s directive to bridge the gap in the teacher-pupil ratio were equally trained to acquire pedagogy skills to enable them function efficiently in their respective schools.

So far, 970 teachers have benefitted from this training opportunities with the impact already felt in the steady rise of the state in national examinations.
