SCHOLARSHIP FOR SPECIAL NEEDS TEACHERS

SCHOLARSHIP TO 15 SPECIAL NEED TEACHERS

Every child is gifted, no matter the challenges confronting them. This buttresses the popular saying of “There is ability in every disability”.

To this end, the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) has given proper attention` to the State owned School for Children with Special Needs, located in Opolo Community in Yenagoa, the State Capital.

Aside providing funds for the smooth operation of the school especially in conveying pupils and students to the school and back home, the fund also provides free lunch for the students to encourage learning.

Currently, the fund is training 15 scholars in the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rivers State, Nigeria in the area of Special Education.

Upon their graduation, the Special Teachers will be engaged in the school to take care of the educational needs of the special children.

The fund through the support of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Foundation has provided some equipment and materials for entrepreneurial skills development for the students.

This gesture is intended to ensure no sector is left behind in our quest to improve the standard of education in the state, as more can be achieved with more collaborations and support.
